This past spring, I chose to expand my horizons by taking a seminar a little out of my milieu called “World Folklore and Traditions,” with an accompanying travel component to Iceland from March 18-25. Taking this class was such a delight. Two professors, Kevin and Robin, taught me about the tales and lore of the world, and how it ties into a modern world. While Professor Kevin Grace is poignant and sagacious, adjunct Professor Robin Selzer is modern and honest, and I cannot imagine a team better than Kevin and Robin to teach on such a subject.
The true blessing of the course, however, was the opportunity to travel to ICELAND for a week. I still can’t believe I get to say that I have been to Iceland!! In my opinion (and many others', I'm sure), it is one of the most gorgeous locations on Earth. The week we spent was one of the best weeks of my life. We got to climb into ice caverns and be in true pitch black darkness, we climbed to the tallest point in Reykjavik (the Hallgrimskirkja steeple) and rode Icelandic ponies. Personally, I befriended a few Icelandic girls and we still keep in touch to this day. It’s exciting to have pen-pals in Iceland. But, best of all, I became best friends with my roommate, Lauren Kirgis. After finding out we have quite a lot in common, we spent the week exploring all the nooks and3 crannies of Iceland that our peers didn’t see. I think that was the best part.

I have attached pictures from my trip, as it seems to be the best way to attempt to portray Iceland's beauty. Again, I can't stress enough how blessed I was to get to go on this trip. I only wish these photos could do it justice!
